If you are trying to conserve energy, you might want to look into Belkin surge protectors. They have outlets that are "always on" for things like clocks that need constant power. Then they have "switchable" outlets that allow you to turn the outlets off when you aren't using those items. This is great for TV's, DVD players, computers, printers, etc. You simply switch them on using a remote control when you want those items to be on. This helps reduce the electricity that is used when something is plugged in, but not turned on.
